Ah.... what delight to a musicals lover who also finds truth in the oddest melodies and messages! Thanks Alex.

I likely won't vote either, unless there's a courageous and trustworthy candidate, such as Andrew Bridgen.

I gave up TV many years ago, and a week ago, BBC radio fake news as well. Absolutely say NO to toxic services of any kind, either online or offline.

It's extremely challenging to go off-grid, although I have a small, independent, 12 volt solar setup. I've been experimenting with wind and solar power since the early 1990's and have given workshops on independent stand-alone small-scale systems.

I still use supermarkets, because to find traditional small shops, I have to travel. Travelling gives rise to expense, wasted time and pollution. Having said this, giving up supermarkets would be great! At least I cook from basics.

Alex, perhaps you're unfortunate and have a smart meter. I refuse to have one (although in rented premises it's unavoidable). This messaging from Octopus is insidious. Other energy suppliers may behave in the same way. Regarding energy prices, it's possible that gas prices will rise greatly in the future to encourage people to buy heat pumps. These really have their downsides, so think VERY carefully before investing in one! Even with a grant.

Facial recognition will be practically unavoidable in the future; its use in supermarkets and other public places is increasing. Most sheeple don't care. I'm lucky and can avoid cities and large towns. Another reason to buy from small shops!

Good point with the Halifax; pointed criticism is something I like to do. Apply zero tolerance where possible, folks!

Transhumanism may be very hard to challenge. Quote from popular media, mid 2023: "Elon Musk's brain-chip firm says it has received approval from the US Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) to conduct its first tests on humans. The Neuralink implant company wants to help restore vision and mobility to people by linking brains to computers". I feel it's highly likely that this will lead to direct brain control in the future. Medical benefits of new technologies are often the precursor to overreach in some form.

The WHO power-grab isn't reported by the mainstream media. I wonder why!!?? It seems Parliament is asleep at the wheel. It can only be hoped that people will wake up to what's going on around them. The complacency and naivety of the public never fails to amaze and disappoint.

We need to get ourselves together as never before.

I don't have a smart meter. The Octopus thing just popped up on my screen when I was on their website. I was using Chrome because my old Mac can no longer accept Brave updates. So I think it's something to do with the browser settings. But what concerns me far more than is the company's sense of entitlement in telling a customer what to do. There's no environmental justification for this behaviour - a computer uses a small amount of electricity (in household terms) and I was only on the Octopus site for a couple of minutes.

This kind of behaviour would have been unacceptable in Britain a few years ago, but a mixture of apathy and climate-related propaganda has moved the boundaries. I rather liked the old ones, so yes, zero tolerance wherever possible!

This rude and intrusive message from Octopus could possibly have arisen from browser settings. I looked into how a smart meter could achieve such granular information, and found (according to various websites) that only general information on specific appliances and their usage can potentially be gathered by smart meters. Glad you don't have one of these. It seems that energy companies are free to sell any data gathered from customers by way of smart meters. The companies claim to protect your data, yabba, yabba, yabba. In any case I agree with you; such messaging has no justification.

Completely agree with most of this, except rather than not voting, I feel it would be better to spoil our ballot paper as this has to be counted, unlike non-votes. Enough spoiled ballots and the message cannot be spun away: none of the above are fit to govern.

I think that's a good way of responding to the current situation. My position is actually 'not voting for the mainstream parties' which is why I remain open to the possibility of an independent candidate. Spoiling a ballot paper effectively says 'none of the above'.
