Brilliant article Alex - we need more ‘thumos’ in this country… more defiance, more spirit, more anger and resistance. In short, we need to be more French - to the barricades!
I moved from the south east of England to the East Midlands nearly two years ago. The skies have been striped on a regular basis but others don’t seem to notice or say that the government would not do such a thing! The day can start out quite bright until the stripes appear and the blue sky disappears. The rain has been relentless apart from the odd week of sunshine and I wondered if I had made the wrong move.
On a wider scale people around me are either unaware of the things that are occurring in the world or need to ignore it because they can’t cope with the reality of it. Some want things to be “normal” just long enough for them to live out the rest of their lives without having to deal with it - a bit selfish, lazy and dependent on what they consider to be the status quo!
I have not had a TV for about 30 years so I believe that my mind is free to explore; which I do online. I’m aware that I should not believe everything that I see, hear or read but at least I get a variety of opinions and ideas from a wide range of thinkers; rather than the singular stream of “news?”that enters the living rooms and the minds of the population through their regular dose of the “telly”. Many conversations that I hear locally are reiterations of the latest news bulletins. It’s difficult to listen to but the brainwashing is so ingrained and impenetrable that I no longer try to give an alternative opinion. Friendships have been lost as a result of my being different - I celebrate that difference xx
I had an elderly relative in that area who died recently and when I visited him I was horrified by the level of activity in the skies which, I was subsequently told, had been going on for a long time.
My relative's last years involved a long, painful decline with Parkinson's. The condition has a link to aluminium, which is one of the chemicals reported in the trails, as many tests for heavy metals have shown. My relative was a keen gardener and spent a lot of time outside, so I can't help wondering whether there was a link.
I don't think people realise what kind of future they may be in for if they keep disregarding what's going on in the world around them.
I don't have TV and although I use the Internet a lot, don't do social media. That limits my social options (although I like good company), but people are free to take me as I come.
To a point, I'm inclined to agree with Hillman about psychotherapy. Like other fields in modern Western medicine, it treats the symptoms in isolation of the rest of the human mind/body system. In other words psychotherapy, or Western medicine more generally, are not normally practiced in a holistic way, as far as I can tell. I've spoken with a friend who's a trained councillor, but when I try to gently introduce discussion on the spiritual/soul aspect of the human, he's not interested. In addition, I know a few people who work hard and have their noses to the grindstone when it comes to "self-development". Problem is, such people tend to see only the grindstone and not the bigger picture.
I agree with you about the legion of voices who don't do more than document and complain. To some extent, I may be one of them.
The problem with what actions to take to challenge a dictatorial and utterly corrupt national Government and possible world government is that there are practically no practical steps to take that are clearly recommended by anyone, it seems. When it comes to specifics, commentators tend to skate around the subject, because they have little or no idea, and the whole thing then becomes a form of academic or mental exercise. Very frustrating. I've put in a lot work trying to find practical measures, but there's very little on the table for ordinary people to actually do. Although I have respect for them, it's all right for those who have the money to buy land and have the physical strength to live "off-grid", but many such people are still very dependent on smart and other technologies including WIFI and phone networks. So, are they really off-grid?
All I do is to not use smart technology, take measures to protect personal data and privacy, eat very little junk food, minimise waste, repair and re-use old stuff if possible, and a few other minor things.
The basic problem is that the supine and weak-willed general public lack awareness in the first place, and are too "sucked into" the system to do anything in the second place. Thus the field is wide open for dictatorships.

I’m not sure what it would take for people to wake up but it would probably have to be something that really intrudes in their everyday lives.
I do think that some are not meant to wake up because they’re on a different path and that they just do not think in the same way that we do.
wonderful insight, thanks so much Alex, just what I needed to read today. x
